Stephen Sommers Directing G.I. Joe
G.I. Joe will be a contemporary live action motion picture and will be directed by Stephen Sommers(The Mummy) as previously confirmed by various sources. Mark Whalberg(The Departed) is currently in talks to play the lead role and the movie will be produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura(Transformers). Grounded in reality, the film will depict the rise and fall of a terrorist organisation and the team assigned to destroy it.

IESB.net (and other sites that followed) scooped up that Stephen Sommers will be helming G.I. Joe. The franchise will be based on the popular line of HASBRO action figures. But right now Broken Union can follow those other sites and confirm the following statement after being in contact with numerous insiders.
